I purchased this model from Fry's in 2002 and today I still enjoy my morning cup of Joe today, because I have a 7 days a week for seven years. There were some problems, such as water leaks from the basket, but the fix for the holes spray cleaner and the problem disappeared. We use the espresso side is about 4-6 times a month and never had a problem with it. We get our green coffee beans and roast at home and this is the best coffee maker, talks about real coffeeSnob ..:) When I saw the stars down, I for my post was to show that there are some models out there for longer life. Bought this model at Target a few years back and was VERY pleasantly surprised at how delicious the coffee was. I like that there is a clear window with measurements to show how much water is in the tank. Like the small basket, for better soaking of the coffee. I always use the slower, aroma setting. It does not take THAT much longer and is definitely worth the wait. The basket mechanism is a bit difficult to open sometimes, and the carafe handle can get in the way of things until you get used to how it works. At least three very serious coffee drinking friends have commented favorably after being served coffee from this model. I was surprised that so many people had complaints. My coffee is always hot, not too hot, always strong enough. All I can guess is that there may be some inconsistency between individual coffee makers in this model. Yet the two I purchased work great. I use Starbuck’s Italian roast and it tastes wonderful.
